Information technology was once the fastest growing sector in the UK job market but things have changed a lot in the last couple of years owing to the financial crises that most countries have been going through. Despite this there are still some excellent opportunities to make good money if you know where to look and are willing to put some effort into your search. There is no need to stay at home job hunting as you can pop down to your local café with a netbook and check out the latest openings in a more pleasant environment. As they all come equipped with a wireless card and many cafés have WiFi networks there is plenty of choice when it comes to where to conduct your search. With your own laptop and a large dose of self-confidence there is no reason why you cannot make a good living as a software consultant. Most machines are good enough to write applications with and as long as you are mobile and have the self-discipline to get up every morning and look for new clients it could turn out to be the best move you ever make.
