About the job: You would be part of a team that will provide technical support to one of my client's most important and exciting projects. Working alongside the Web Developers you will provide the technical expertise required to deliver a programme of work that will give my client a real competitive edge. As a database developer your focus will be on reporting, data mining and supporting new and existing functionality on the site. The site handles over 40 million page views per month so all code you write must be highly optimised. Responsibilities; • You would be coding database solutions for key projects, the results of which will be directly visible on our public facing website. • All code you write will be backwards compatible with the existing site and will interface seamlessly with our web development team’s code. The majority of our website’s business logic is located in the database and as such you will have a large responsibility within the company. Required skills • Transact SQL (SQL Server 2008) – demonstrable experience of writing fast, scalable stored procedure code for a large volume site • SQL Server Reporting and Analysis Services • Deep knowledge of SQL Server architecture including indexes and their structure, pages, locking and the hardware layer at which SQL Server operates • Extensive knowledge and experience using SQL Profiler, SQL Traces, analysing and interpreting execution plans and optionally using Quest Performance Analysis • Excellent analytical and system design skills • Experience of working with VLDBs • Knowledge and understanding of SQL Agent, SQL Jobs Desired skills – the following skills would be an advantage but are not required • Experience in travel/airline related industry • Experience of working in a web company, including SEO and user experience management • PostgreSQL • Reporting Services • SSIS • Dundas Charts • CLR using C# • Experience in travel/airline or related industries • Experience of working in a small web company, including SEO and user experience management Sample code you will be writing: • Data management systems • Performance monitoring tools • Route management tools • Timetable imports • Availability imports TLP Consultancy Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
